Medical Exam Table Reupholstery

A cracked exam table top can no longer be cleaned properly. We recover the pads in new healthcare-grade vinyl and leave the table itself exactly where it is.

  • The cabinet staysOnly the pads leave the room — base, motor and drawers stay put.
  • Pads back fastRecovered off-site and returned, so the room is not closed for days.
  • Any colorMatch the table you have, or change the whole suite.
When to recover

Where the Top Gives Out

Exam table vinyl is wiped down after every patient, and the disinfectant slowly dries it out. Medical exam table reupholstery is due the moment the surface opens — before that, a repair may still do.

Soaked and stainedOnce fluid gets under a split, the foam holds it. Cleaning the top cannot reach it — the pad has to be stripped and the foam replaced. Foam replacement

How it is done

Pads Off. Table Stays.

Our medical exam table reupholstery works on the part that wears, not the whole table. Here is a typical job, from the first bolt to handback.

01
Pads offThe seat, back and any foot section unbolt from the table frame from below. The cabinet is never moved or opened.
02
Strip and checkThe old vinyl comes off the plywood base. Foam that is soaked, crumbling or flattened is replaced, not covered over.
03
Pattern and cutEach pad is patterned from the old cover, so corners and radius edges fit the way they did from the factory.
04
Stretch and fixNew healthcare-grade vinyl is pulled tight over the foam and fixed to the base. Corners are pleated flat, with no seam on the seating surface to trap fluid.
05
Back on the tablePads are bolted back in place and the room is handed back ready to wipe down and use.

Works on most makes — manual and power tables, including tables from makers like Midmark. Pads are collected and returned through our pickup and delivery service.

Color

Match It or Change It

Keep the color your tables already are, or use the recover to update the room. When every table in a practice is done together, they all match — see color matching.

Questions

Medical exam table reupholstery questions

Running more than exam rooms? Start at medical furniture repair for the whole practice.

How much does medical exam table reupholstery cost?

Medical exam table reupholstery is quoted per table from photos or a visit. The price depends on the number of pads, whether the foam needs replacing and the vinyl you choose — and a room of tables costs less per table than one. We do not quote off a list.

Do you move the table out of our office?

No. Only the pads come off; the cabinet, motor and drawers stay where they are. Pads are recovered in our shop and brought back.

Is recovering cheaper than a new exam table?

Almost always. The frame, base and power mechanism are the expensive part and they rarely fail. Replacing only the vinyl and foam keeps the table in service.

What vinyl do you use?

Healthcare-grade vinyl built to take daily disinfectant wiping, in the color of your table or a new one. See commercial vinyl.

Can you do all the exam rooms at once?

Yes, and it is the better way to do it: every table ends up the same color and finish, and the work runs over evenings or a weekend. See bulk projects.
